Roberto Cabeza, Elisa Ciaramelli, Ingrid R. Olson & Morris Moscovitch
p613 | doi:10.1038/nrn2459

put forward to explain these findings and discuss their attention-based
hypothesis.

Avidja, the root cause of all ill in Buddhism, is, in practice, ignorance of
the true nature of reality, i.e. when its impermanence and selflessness are
not fully recognized and understood, giving rise to trishna, which is
craving, clinging and attachment, the direct cause of distress.
